Chinese New Year Laisee Design Competition

Laisee, which means good luck, are red envelopes that married couples give to their unmarried relatives, friends and colleagues. These are given during Chinese New Year as a sign of passing on their blessing and thanking them for their contributions in the past year. Nowadays, Laisee designs are becoming trendier with cute and creative designs.

Wycombe Abbey School Hong Kong held a ‘Chinese New Year Laisee Design Competition’ where pupils are welcome to submit their creative designs. Since this year is the Year of the Rat, many pupils used this as their main inspiration.

The winning designs were printed and made into real Laisee envelopes and given to the WASHK community.
