Our School Day – Timetable

A full school day to facilitate additional study & extra-curricular enrichment

Our school day runs from 8:00am to 3:00pm with 9 lessons in the day.

Children are encouraged to stay on for our extra-curricular enrichment programme, which is available from 3:00pm to 5:00pm each school day.

There will be no preferential or automatic entry to Wycombe Abbey School UK but pupils from the Hong Kong School can get a reference letter from the Headmaster which can help serve as a positive factor when seeking entrance. Automatic transfers/entry to other Wycombe Abbey Schools that is part of Wycombe Abbey International Group is available.

Applications to offer Year 7 and Year 8 classes have been made to the Education Bureau.  Parents will be informed of the progress.

Development plans for our secondary school have begun, and we will release an official public announcement soon.

The maximum capacity is 24 students per class and the class ratio is 1:12. There are two teachers in each classroom and our average class size is 15-20 students per class.

Putonghua is the medium of instruction for Chinese lessons and students will have a firm knowledge and keen appreciation of the Chinese language and culture. Students are taught primarily to read and write Simplified Chinese characters with exposure to Traditional Chinese characters through lessons in calligraphy, voluntary supplementary reading lessons, and a variety of extra-curricular programmes and activities.

Standardized examinations are carried out in the form of assessments. Assessments are performed once a class module or course is completed, and students will be assessed on their knowledge of the course material.

WASHK has a dedicated SEN specialist supporting students who have special education needs.

We have a diverse range students from all different nationalities, including Hong Kong, British, Australian, American, Canadian, Chinese, and others.

Many of our extra-curricular activities are free of charge, as they are instructed by our own teaching staff. For some other extra-curricular activities, we do work in partnership with external professionals to conduct these courses, which are at an additional charge.
